Girofle a Fixed Idea: Raise Your Glass

I'm generally not a rosé lover, I never have been, but during my "complicated relationship" with the world of wine, I've learned never to approach anything with preconceptions.
At a tasting I was offered as a first wine a vino rosato that would immediately capture my sympathy.
So as not to be influenced, I didn't look at the label, which, as I would later discover, I would have liked!

A brilliant color with cerasuolo tones and that touch of orange – I'm certain this is a product made from Negroamaro grapes.
On the nose it is very intense, honest and complex, combining floral notes with interesting hints of red fruits in a fine harmony that impresses the sense of smell.
Favorably impressed, I decide to give free rein to my curiosity and begin drinking it.
Exactly what I expected – no unexpected disappointments!
The harmony found on the nose is perfectly reproduced on the palate, a fresh yet intense taste and a not-bad body for a rosato.
An excellent acidity that gives rise to a long salivation combined with a pleasant sapidity cleanses and refreshes the palate.

After the tasting I rushed to discover what I had been drinking!
Girofle Salento IGP Negroamaro in purity from 2013 – on the label there is a text that captures my attention and exalts the history and qualities of this precious grape variety.
The Clou de girofle is the clove nail that one finds from time to time as a scent in certain wines.
The name, beyond the analogy with the founder of the winery Severino Garofano, evokes "the fixed idea of achieving excellence in quality wine".
Severino is an important name within the Italian winemaking landscape; originally from the Irpinia territory, he was captivated by the beauty of Puglia and by Negroamaro, eventually moving to Copertino, in the heart of Salento, where his Cantina Tenuta Monaci is based today.

Clayey terroir, respect for the environment and future generations blend with "good" technology to give life to interesting products, of which this Girofle is an excellent representative.

Quoting the label: "It is a wine that invites you to raise your glass in the direction of happy people"
