The "link" between wine and cinema is something tangible in many ways — I personally enjoy sipping a good wine during a quality film; just as we have already talked in the past about films that connect the two worlds.
Today we talk about Somm: Into the Bottle, a documentary about four aspiring master sommeliers divided into ten chapters.
A sort of natural evolution of Sideways, the unforgettable cult classic of the genre from 2004, and Somm from 2013, of which this film — again directed by Jason Wise — represents the sequel.
Wine professionals at work in a "mini video encyclopedia" of ten chapters, but the characters are merely co-protagonists who support the undisputed Oscar winner: the great Wine.
We especially recommend chapter 6: "The Cost", during which Aubert de Villaine of Romanée-Conti uncorks a bottle of Echezeaux 2004 — which you too could taste by purchasing it for the modest sum of €1,000 per bottle.
When will it arrive in Italy? The question to ask is "if" it will arrive! In the meantime, let's make do with one of our wines featured on screen: Barolo Elio Altare 2005.
