Together You Drink Wine and Sell It: Pecorino e Cococciola Tollo

We've already discussed the importance of the Private Label market within wine sales in Italy; today however we'll shed more light and go to taste for you Pecorino e Cococciola Assieme Coop produced by Cantina Tollo, which we've mentioned several times!
The Assieme brand by Coop aims to enhance the territorial tradition of various regions and to offer a good quality-to-price product.
Available under this label are wines from Emilia Romagna, Toscana, Veneto, Abruzzo, Marche, Sicilia, Puglia and Lombardia, making for a fairly varied assortment.
It started with very affordable wines, around 3 euros a bottle, before ultimately settling on an ideal price range of 6 to 10 euros.
The label presents itself well and correctly conveys the message of valorising, without penalising anyone, the hard work of those who go into the vineyard to bring wine to our tables.

Among the partner wineries, Tollo stands out, contributing to the project with two references: Cococciola Pecorino and Rosato Terre di Chieti.
We tasted the first for you, pairing it with stoccafisso alla brace!
On the eye it presents an intense straw yellow colour; on the nose immediately quite pronounced notes of pineapple and peach, with little else beyond some overshadowed citrus.
On the palate unripe white fruit, a slight sensation of fizziness and a hint of acidity; the finish turns out fairly bitter.
Overall we're talking about a sufficient wine that neither excels nor surprises, but at the same time does not disappoint.
As someone I know used to say, "If you put it on the table, you'll drink it!"
The pairing is spot on and so is the price, even if the writer always prefers to steer purchases towards more independent and lesser-known producers.
The label and distributor were decisive in driving the purchase, capturing the curiosity of someone who, while not a loyal Coop customer, recognises the great care they put into their Private Label, which often impresses for its quality.
Perhaps this is also why, even without being disappointed, I was expecting something more!
