Kobe Bryant a.k.a… #vino

Kobe Bryant is certainly one of the greatest basketball players who ever lived, a pure, crystalline talent that knows no decline – in fact he seems to improve and enrich himself with the passing years just like a good wine!

The nickname is not the original invention of a commentator or sports journalist, but a tweet he himself launched online!

Kobe, now thirty-four, has always adored Italy because of his father's past there, and he is playing and dunking as if we were back in the late '90s and early 2000s..

Entire volumes could be written about the history of NBA players' nicknames: from Michael Air Jordan who turned it into a brand, to Black Mamba which Kobe himself had self-assigned!

The most original is certainly #Vino, a thoroughly Italian nickname that obviously refers to the famous characteristic of the nectar.

Raj Parr, the head sommelier of Indian origin at the famous "Michael Mina" chain in San Francisco, also tweeting about Kobe's new nickname, wonders what wine he could be? And, just to keep with the sporting theme, shoots three possibilities into the basket: Chambertin, Cote Rotie or Chateau Latour. Among the replies comes a very Italian Monprivato di Mascarello.
