The 12 Ideal Pairings for a Good Gewurztraminer

Gewurztraminer is a grape variety that produces wines with explosive and intense aromas, sometimes overpowering: it is therefore essential to pair it carefully to avoid the wine dominating the flavors rather than enhancing them.

Remember that you are dealing with an alcoholic wine, a complex white that should not be served too cold (14-15°) so as not to "stun" the aromas.

1 – Foie Gras: are you a Foie Gras lover and don't know what to pair it with? A good Gewurztraminer with significant residual sugar, perhaps from a late harvest, won't let you down!
2 – Sushi: we have already suggested it paired with the vegan version – don't overlook the pairing with classic sushi and sashimi. The marriage with ginger is excellent!
3 – Raw or grilled shellfish
4 – Basmati rice and sea bream fillet

5 – King prawns or Pollo al Curry
6 – Shellfish tempura or Venetian "Moeche"
7 – Pasticcio Ferrarese with truffle
8 – Smoked salmon, tuna or herring
9 – Sardines or Stoccafisso arrosto
10 – Tortelli alla mantovana: the pumpkin, the mustard preserve, the nutmeg, and the parmesan will win you over
11 – Cantonese fried rice
12 – Not sure what to pair pastiera napoletana with? Try it with a passito di Gewurztraminer from a late harvest and contact us to thank us! A great alternative dessert pairing is also Strudel di mele with cinnamon.

Gewurztraminer pairs well with ginger and its blossoms, curry, turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins, dried fruit, citron, cardamom, avocado, and lychee.

It is an ideal wine to pair with Thai cuisine, well-suited to many Chinese dishes and Japanese sushi.

Avoid overly salty or excessively spicy dishes.
