The Legend of the love between Vesuvius and Capri tells of two young people, Vesuvio a noble young Neapolitan man and Capri a young woman from a rival family. Both families refused to accept this love, so much so that Capri was made to sail to a distant land, but she, in love with young Vesuvio, threw herself into the sea and at that spot an island arose. Vesuvio, grieved by the loss of his beloved, transformed into a mountain from whose depths tears of fire poured forth, such was his passion for the young woman.
Between one glass of wine and the next and a few pieces of cheese, we also told the story of a woman, Leucopetra, contested between two young men, Vesevo and Sebeto...
Leucopetra was a young nymph contested by two men, but she, to escape them both, threw herself into the sea transforming into stone. In his great sorrow Vesevo transformed into a mountain that hurled fire all the way to the sea to reach his beloved, while Sebeto wept so much that he transformed into a river and reached the sea to meet with Leucopetra...
